Friends,
Our City shone bright this past weekend for thousands of residents and guests who took in all the festivals and special events across Little Rock. We had two international food festivals in West Little Rock, the annual HarvestFest in Hillcrest, the Little Rock Zoo’s special Members Day in Midtown, a visit from the Philippine Consulate at the West Central Community Center, Fiesta en SoMa, the grand re-opening of CALS Main Library, and so much more happening in our vibrant and growing capital city.
This diverse array of cultural enrichment, neighborhood celebration and transformational milestones makes Little Rock unique in our state and region. I enjoyed spending time with our friends and neighbors.
As always, I appreciate the opportunity to celebrate our community safely because of the hard work of the men and women of the Little Rock Police Department. There were no major incidents during this busy weekend.
And, though many annual events have already come and gone, the newly re-imagined Main Library is now open every day to serve lifelong learners right in the heart of Little Rock’s River Market. This “next chapter” for the library features additional natural light, a rooftop terrace and intentionally designed, welcoming spaces. Those include a new, expanded children’s area, new programming spaces, a teaching kitchen, video production studio, state-of-the-art technology, and new study and meeting rooms.
The CALS Main Library is another gem in our urban core alongside our other anchor institutions like the Clinton Center, Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, and the Museum of Discovery. Make the new Main Library your next stop in our vibrant and transforming Downtown!
