Friends,

Today, we take City Hall again to the community, this time at Second Baptist Church on John Barrow Road for the next stop in our Mobile City Hall series. Mobile City Hall is your one-stop shop to obtain City services and engage with City leaders as we work together to create a better Little Rock.

I hope you will join us from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Second Baptist, 1709 John Barrow. Representatives from city departments will be available to offer resources and answer questions, and there will be plenty of family-friendly activities.

Residents who visit Mobile City Hall can expect the same kind of experience they would if they came to City Hall downtown during normal business hours. That means, if you need to file a report, pay a fee, or handle other City business, Mobile City Hall is a convenient, after-hours place to do just that.

At last month's Mobile City Hall, our Human Resources Department offered jobs on-the-spot to three residents during their instant interview process. Residents looking for a City of Little Rock job can start - and even finish - that process tonight.

While at Mobile City Hall, our Parks and Recreation team will have games available and we will distribute free children's books as part of the Reading in The Rock initiative. Residents will have a chance to win a door prize and to buy dinner at a local food truck.

The directors of all our City departments will join me at 6 p.m. for a town hall-style forum, where we will provide updates and take questions.

I hope to see you today from 5-7 p.m. at Second Baptist Church on John Barrow Road.

Strengthening Little Rock Through Small Businesses

Through programs like BUILD Academy and Emprende, we are committed to helping our entrepreneurial community unlock its potential and achieve success. We know a City cannot thrive without healthy small businesses. These programs equip business owners with additional skills, resources and mentorship opportunities to help them succeed.

In May, we wrapped up the 2025 cohorts of BUILD and Emprende with the State's only bilingual pitch competition, Pitch in The Rock. Entrepreneurs had the chance to highlight their businesses before a panel of judges. Congratulations to the winners and to everyone who participated in the pitch competition!

Winners were, for BUILD Academy: Trisha Snyder, The Utopia Deli, first place; Brandi Roberts, DevaSprouts Farms, second place; Whitney Spencer, Crown, third place; Candace and Napoleon Jackson, Jack's Grill, people's choice.

For Emprende, winners were: Rolando Ochoa, Integro Photography and Videography, first place; Manuel Gartan, Momotombo Spanish Language School, second place; Javier Olmedo, Cardinal Construction LLC, third place; and Jacquelin Castillo, Mil deseos, people's choice.

A special thanks to our BUILD sponsors, Garver, Hope Credit Union, ACC Capital, and the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation; and Emprende sponsors, Southern Bancorp, Encore Bank, First Community Bank, Arvest Bank, Hope Credit Union, ACC Capital, Imprentta, J&C Multiservices LLC and the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation.

Pitch in The Rock promotes innovation and entrepreneurship that directly addresses local challenges and opportunities. Through the City of Little Rock's small business development initiatives, we are building stronger neighborhoods and a more resilient economy.
LR Recycles Day

Our next Little Rock Recycles Day is Saturday, June 7, from 9 a.m. to noon in the East parking lot of the Little Rock Zoo, at the intersection of Zoo Drive and Monroe Street.

During our quarterly Recycles Day events, you can drop off an array of recyclable materials. In addition to items that are accepted in residential recycling containers, you may also drop off documents for shredding, plastic bags, glass, electronic waste and bicycles. We will also accept donations of clothing and other household items that are in good condition.

Little Rock Recycles Day is sponsored by the City of Little Rock Sustainability Office, the Little Rock Zoo and Keep Little Rock Beautiful.

Please help do your part to make Little Rock more sustainable through participation in Saturday's Recycles Day event.
