Friends,
This week, we relaunch Project Impact, an effort among City of Little Rock staff and community stakeholders to heavily focus City services on underserved areas of our City. Our goal is to beautify neighborhoods, reduce crime and connect residents to resources.
Please join us at noon Friday, July 12, for the 2024 Project Impact kickoff. We are hosting a Community Launch Party at Curran Conway Park, 2501 S. Harrison St. As we begin Project Impact this year, we will focus on the area from 12th Street south to Asher Avenue and from Woodrow Street west to University Avenue.
At the launch party, residents will be able to learn more about Project Impact. Representatives from city multiple departments including code enforcement and the Little Rock Police Department will be present to answer questions. Some of our many supporting partners in attendance will be Central Arkansas Water, the Little Rock Water Reclamation Authority, Entergy, and the Central Arkansas Library System. We will have live entertainment and lunch for everyone, so we hope you can stop by.
Over the next few months, you can expect to see positive changes in the Project Impact focus area. We will clean up trash and debris, fix potholes and handle multiple 311 reports. Our code enforcement officers will work with residents to ensure code compliance. Parks and Recreation Department crews will identify priority maintenance and clean-up needs within our parks
Knowing public safety is a priority within the Project Impact area and across the City, LRPD will increase its presence during this initiative, our Fire Department will be assisting residents to ensure their smoke detectors are operable and our homelessness services team will focus how to better assist our unsheltered residents.
As with the initial Project Impact initiative in 2022, once we have completed this intensive focus on beautification and public safety, we will bring Project Impact to another part of our City.
Working together, we can strengthen our neighborhoods and transform our City for the better.
See you at Friday's launch party!

Apply for a Board or Commission
Just like with Project Impact, the best and most effective way to grow and transform the City of Little Rock is for all of us to come together and do our part to make this City better. Over and over again, we have met residents who are engaged, informed and willing to step up to help Arkansas's capital city advance.
We are often asked how someone can help make a difference, and one of the answers is for residents to consider an application to a board or commission.
Volunteers who serve on boards and commissions can make a positive impact through public service. Our boards and commissions offer advice and recommendations on the policies and procedures that shape how we operate our City.
At several points throughout the year, we make appointments to boards and commissions. Those appointments are subject to confirmation by the Board of Directors. The next deadline to apply for service on a board or commission is Friday, July 19.
Registered voters who live in the Little Rock city limits are eligible for appointments. Keep in mind, though, that some boards or commissions require professional certifications or residency in a specific ward. Appointees are asked to make sure they are available to attend meetings and be willing to work collectively as we unite, grow and transform our City.
Positions are available on the Age-Friendly Little Rock Commission, Ambulance Authority, Americans with Disability Act Grievance Committee, Animal Services Advisory Board, Arts and Culture Commission, Board of Adjustment, City Beautiful Commission, Commission on Children, Youth and Families, Community Housing Advisory Board, Historic District Commission, Housing Board of Adjustments and Appeals, Land Bank Commission, Sustainability Commission, Little Rock Zoo Board of Governors, Water Reclamation Commission, Public Safety Commission, River Market District Design Review Committee, and the Sister Cities Commission.
We encourage all residents to consider applying, as we strive to ensure our boards and commissions are inclusive and representative of the diversity of this great City.

Be a Junior Park Ranger
We are "A City in a Park," and with 63 city parks across Little Rock, we need our future generations to embrace the importance of outdoor recreation for our environment and quality of life and place right here in our City.
The Parks and Recreation Department's Junior Park Ranger Day Camp is the ideal summer activity for young people with an interest in our parks and nature. The first of three weekly day camps kicks off on Monday, July 15. This year's camp is the first for our junior park rangers since we suspended the camp in 2020 because of the COVID pandemic. That means many local students who may not have had the opportunity to experience the program have the chance to do so now.
The camp is open to children ages 9 through 12 who love the outdoors. Campers will spend the week exploring different parks. They will discuss local flora and fauna, learn the history of our parks system, and talk about environmental issues. Activities include bird watching, archery, fishing and swimming. Graduating Junior Park Rangers will receive a backpack with outdoor gear, a certificate, a Junior Ranger t-shirt and a badge.
This year's day camps go from July 15-19, July 22-26 and July 29-Aug. 2. The cost is $50. Apply here or click here to learn more
