Friends,
I know you join me in grieving the passing of Little Rock's longtime City Manager, Bruce T. Moore. Bruce was a confidant, friend and brother to me. He was a servant leader and tireless advocate to the people of Little Rock. We will all miss him dearly.
Bruce was Little Rock's longest-serving City Manager. He took on that role in 2002. He was responsible for some significant progress and milestones in our City's history, including leading the City's efforts to secure the Clinton Presidential Center. He was a Operation Desert Storm veteran and a community volunteer with an unmatched record of service to nonprofits such as City Year Little Rock, of which he was board chairman and founder.
He helped lead our City with a spirit of excellence, and he was a consensus builder who always found ways to get things done for our residents.
Bruce and I shared a friendship that transcended politics and city government. I cherished our time together where we could visit, and I loved hearing stories about his son, Luke, who was Bruce's pride and joy and greatest accomplishment.
Today was one of the most difficult days as Mayor, as I went to City Hall knowing Bruce would not be there. All of our team members are grieving that loss, so I ask you to be supportive and empathetic toward the city employees you may encounter this week. With that, we will continue to proudly provide our residents and visitors the services they need from their city government. Bruce would expect and demand nothing less.
Most importantly, keep Luke, Bruce's fiancee, Siobhan, and all his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.
I appreciate you, and God bless and protect Bruce T. Moore.
