Friends,

Last week, I outlined my vision for a growing, thriving Little Rock in my 2023 State of the City address, sharing how we can grow #ForwardTogether to build infrastructure and develop world-class amenities in order to position our City for even more success for the next few decades.

It takes all of us working together to continue the progress we've started, and I'll need your help as we move forward with an investment in our future.

To unite, grow and fully transform Little Rock, we must:

  • Revitalize our public spaces, specifically War Memorial Park and Hindman Park.
  • Continue to improve public safety through investments in people, equipment and facilities.
  • Upgrade our streets and drainage infrastructure.
  • Expand the Little Rock Port in order to attract more jobs.

These critical needs require a strategic investment in the future, and that's why during my address I announced "Little Rock Forward." In the coming days, I'll work with the Board of Directors, and you, our residents, to form a consensus on our mutual priorities and a timeline for bringing a tax measure for your approval.

To grow Little Rock Forward, it will take all of us moving #ForwardTogether, and I value and appreciate your input. Together, we will develop a plan that will transform this City, making it the most attractive City anywhere to live, work, and play.

The State of our City is better than it's ever been, thanks to the work you do each and every day to improve the quality of life and place in Little Rock. Yet, we still have work to do.

The stage is set. Little Rock's full potential is within our reach. Let's grow #ForwardTogether to get there.

The 2023 State of the City Address
Sustain the Rock

For more than a decade, the City of Little Rock has recognized and honored the contributions of individuals, businesses and organizations that work to create a more sustainable future for our City with our Sustain the Rock awards. Our annual sustainability recognition program highlights the hard work and dedication of those who are making a positive impact on sustainability, whether through conservation efforts, renewable energy initiatives or community engagement.

We've honored individuals and entities with Sustain the Rock awards since 2012, and it's time again to select recipients of this annual honor. We're asking for your help in nominating who you think is making the most significant contributions to a sustainable Little Rock. Nominees must live in the City or have their principal place of business located in Little Rock. Nominate here.

As a City, we believe we have a duty to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. We also recognize that sustainability is a complex issue that requires a range of perspectives and approaches. We encourage nominations that reflect the diversity of sustainability efforts in our community. We want to recognize those who are working in innovative and creative ways, as well as those who are addressing environmental justice issues.

The Sustain the Rock Awards are an opportunity to celebrate the progress we have made towards a more sustainable future, and to inspire even greater action. So please, consider nominating someone who is making a positive impact on sustainability in Little Rock. Together, we can create a more sustainable, resilient, and equitable city for all.

Nominations are due by Monday, March 20.

Ward Meetings Begin

Tonight, we kick off a series of meetings in every Ward to ask for resident feedback on how to invest more than $40.5 million into streets and drainage infrastructure projects. The funding for the citywide projects comes from the Renew Little Rock bond issue approved by voters last August.

During these meetings, the public is invited to hear from the Public Works Department about how we plan to use the bond money that is earmarked for streets and drainage, and we will ask for public input on those priorities.

Tonight's meeting is in Ward 6, at the Centre at University Park, 6401 W. 12th St.

On Wednesday, we will be in Ward 3 at Christ Little Rock Church, 315 S. Hughes St., and on Thursday the Ward 1 meeting will be at Dunbar Community Center, 1001 W. 16th St.

We'll be in Ward 4 on March 27, Ward 5 on March 29, Ward 7 on March 30 and Ward 2 on April 5.

The meetings begin each night at 6 p.m.
